Scenes of America: A Visual Anthropology Project

  • One Year. Countless Stories. A Journey to Photograph the Soul of America.

I’m traveling across the United States for a year, camping from town to town, photographing the people, events, and cultural moments that define our time. As a visual anthropologist and published photojournalist, I’m drawn to the every day expressions of identity. From local festivals and parades to spontaneous gatherings and quiet landscapes that tell their own stories

This is both an art project and an anthropological exploration. A way to document who we are, what we value, and how we connect.

Along the way, I’ll be inviting you to take part: by suggesting events, joining the Postcard Club, and following the journey in real time.

    Thank you for joining me.

Where Should I Go Next?

I want to photograph the places, people, and cultural moments that make your community unique. From music festivals and rodeos to heritage events, parades, rituals, or annual traditions. If there’s an event, gathering, or story you think deserves to be documented, tell me about it below. You might just see me show up with my camera.

Get a Postcard from the Road

As I travel, I’ll be sending a few lucky people real postcards featuring my original photography. There will be only 25 made of each card so they’ll all be numbered.

Each card is printed with an image I’ve captured, with a handwritten note as my way of sharing something tangible and personal. It’s a small moment of connection away from this digital-heavy world.

Enter your name and address below for a chance to receive a postcard from the Scenes of America project.
