Fervence at Ruins in Deep Ellum (Dallas), Texas
Fervence had a show at Ruins in Deep Ellum on Friday October 16. They were accompanied by Enthronement, Viridescent, and Oresteia - all women-fronted metal bands.
With these photos, I decided: I'm embracing the red. 🔴
Most concert photographers loathe red stage lighting (myself included). It can wash out subjects, flatten details, and be notoriously difficult to correct. Often, the easiest solution is to convert everything to black and white and call it a day, but this time, I decided to do something different. I decided to embrace the red lighting the performers requested rather than fight against it.
Instead of trying to correct the atmosphere, I leaned into the intensity, shadows, and the raw energy of the performances. Sometimes the challenge isn't fixing the light. It's learning to see what the light is giving you.
